I'm Just a Bill

So when did being a free American mean more limitations on freedoms than in Canada? Years ago, President Bush, denounced to Mr. Bush if you have noticed certain news media, took our verbal freedom away. Having the power to listen in on every word through specified cell phone companies, Bush assured our safety. The problem already starts—the limitation on freedom is itself limited. Knowing which phone line would send your conversation to the government surely allows ways of getting around it. So, Bush allowed a quite un-constitutional form of “security” that has too many holes to be efficient. Bush became Big Brother just to disrespect America if it isn’t foolproof.

Last week, Bush approves a new surveillance bill. According to BBC, this bill protects the phone companies involved in this Big Brother spoof. Fine. This is actually an honorable start; guilt by association can be quite unfair, especially if it’s guilt by government coercion. This protection is that of the law, not economic or even social appeal. The bill starts out quite neutral. If anything, it begins to sound as though it’s trying to fix the past surveillance problems by protecting these associated companies. No.

“The bill also grants the US government the power to continue with the telephone surveillance scheme” to further protect American soil. Note that the article shows no evidence that it has. Because of this, the respect on civil liberties is put to the question, as already mentioned earlier. Overall, the bill allows the continuing of phone conversation surveillance and protection for involved phone companies, to an extent: “telephone companies would not be automatically immune, but courts would be obliged to dismiss a suit against a firm if it was able to produce written certification that the White House had asked it to participate in the programme and had assured the firm it was legal.”

It is George W. Bush without any doubt who has imposed more restrictions and passed privacy-violating bills on the Americans ironically in the name of protecting freedom than any of his predecessors. As it stands now, America is one of the moderately free countries if you compared it with EU or even Canada.

Telephone surveillance is a violation of human rights. It is so serious that in civilized countries such surveillance has to be authorized by the court of law. Wiretapping is a cardinal sin and it happens in typical police states. We thought America wasn't one.

Horrible bill. It is totally unacceptable to self-respecting people like me. And why on earth most such bills gets through the Congress? This is ridiculous. Don't the American lawmakers have any respect for the dignity of their own citizen?

Though this sounds crazy enough to dismiss USA as a dictatorship, we must understand that we live in extraordinary times where terrorism and national security must be given prime importance. If we want to remain safe, we must accept some measures however intrusive they might seem in our personal lives as the government will never do anything that is against our national interest. Law abiding citizens do not need to fear anything.

I am an American military member, and I will not accept that line of reasoning. My blood will not be spent to pay for your rights being lost because of your lack of respect for them.
Try again. This administration must face war crimes trials at some time in the future, or there is no hope for this country.

Hell would be raised in the form of lawsuits and campaigns against the FISA. I am sure this will end up with the ACLU taking the matter as far as needs be. Jameel Jaffer, its director must be commended for his stand against it.

Obama said that he will fight against this ridiculous piece of shit called FISA. Now I guess we should all make our donations to Obama through ACLU. These neo-cons have gone mad and they must be stopped.

ACLU will most certainly file a lawsuit and Obama will most certainly get elected. Once that happens Obama will appoint some Supreme Court judges and by the time the bill reaches the Supreme Court the judges would be in place. Then of course the bill would be squashed as unconstitutional and then Obama would claim yet another victory over the criminal administration that ran America for 8 years before him overthrowing it. Hurray!!!

We all know how George Bush abused his power and secretly spied and eavesdropped on Americans for years following 911 and how the Congress blocked all attempts to hold him accountable. With FISA the chance to find out what was the extent of his anti-national and anti-constitutional deeds becomes zero.

Seeing what is happening in America reminds me of what happened when the Bolshevik Revolution took place. Common people overthrew the tyrannical monarchy of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia only to be run by commie tyrants.

The same thing is happening in America. Did you read George Orwell's Animal Farm? If not read it. This is exactly what is happening in the great USA.
